Drug enforcement unit officers in Greater Sudbury executed a search warrant Jan. 13 at an apartment on Demorest Avenue in the city, seizing $31,000 in illicit drugs and $12,175 in cash. The raid was the result of a drug investigation and led to the arrest of a man from southern Ontario and a woman from Sudbury. “Officers searched both individuals and the residence, locating and seizing approximately 97 grams of cocaine, 235 grams of fentanyl, 44 oxycodone pills, and $12,175 in cash,” police said in a news release Jan. 14. “The estimated street value of the seized drugs is $31,000.” A 21-year-old man from southern Ontario and a 21-year-old woman from Sudbury have each been charged with three counts of drug trafficking, two counts of failing to comply with release orders and one count of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. Both individuals will attend bail court Wednesday, Sudbury police said. Residents are urged to report drug activity to the drug enforcement unit at 705-675-9171.
