According to provincial police, two people formerly from Elliot Lake, Ont., were arrested on Prince Edward Island and returned to Ontario to face multiple outstanding warrants. Ontario Provincial Police said officers attended Charlottetown on Sept. 1 to bring the pair back to Ontario. The Charlottetown Police Service had arrested the pair on Aug. 18 for breaching prior release conditions that prohibited them from having any communication with each other. “After further investigation, it was learned that each person had multiple committal warrants and numerous bench warrants for failing to attend court,” OPP said in the release Wednesday. Police did not disclose the nature of the original charges that led to the release conditions or the outstanding warrants. Additional charges Both individuals were additionally charged again with failing to attend court. As such, the 48-year-old woman, now of Charlottetown, P.E.I., and the 48-year-old man, now of Tors Cove, N.L., were both charged with failing to attend court after having appeared. Both accused appeared in bail court in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., on Sept. 2 and were remanded into custody.
