A 55-year-old Barrie man and a 47-year-old Timmins woman face multiple drug and weapons charges after Ontario Provincial Police say officers executed two search warrants, one in Barrie and one in Timmins, last week. The Controlled Drugs and Substances Act warrants were carried out on Aug. 26 by the North East Region Community Street Crime Unit, with assistance from the OPP’s Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, the Offender Management Apprehension Program, the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service and the Timmins Police Service. Seizure includes cash, drug and gun Police said investigators seized approximately 210 grams of suspected cocaine, about 75 grams of suspected methamphetamine, roughly 500 Percocet pills, one firearm, about $28,000 in cash and various drug paraphernalia. “All drugs combined, have an estimated street value of approximately $26,700,” OPP said in a news release Tuesday. Two charged, one still in custody The man and the woman were both charged with two drug trafficking offences and possession of property obtained by crime. The man faces additional charges, including an additional drug trafficking offence, unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm, careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition, two counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order, and six counts of failing to comply with a release order. The woman is also charged with breach of recognizance. The man is being held in custody awaiting a bail hearing. The woman was released and is scheduled to appear in court in Timmins on Nov. 5.
