A single-vehicle collision claimed the life of a 79-year-old driver Thursday on Highway 631, about 10 kilometres south of Hornepayne. Ontario Provincial Police said the driver was the only person in the passenger vehicle at the time of the crash, around 9:50 a.m. “The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, a 79-year-old from Hornepayne, was transported to hospital, where he was pronounced deceased,” police said in a news release Aug. 28. “An OPP technical collision investigator and a reconstructionist attended the scene to assist Superior East OPP with the investigation. Highway 631 was closed for several hours to facilitate the emergency response and investigation, and it has since reopened.” Anyone who witnessed the collision or has relevant information is asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
