Northern Ont. senior charged with committing indecent act near school

A 77-year-old man has been charged after the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a complaint of an indecent act in a plaza near a school in Elliot Lake, Ont.

OPP were called to a plaza on Hillside Drive on Monday at about 3:30 p.m. after a witness reported an incident.

“The complainant reported that a male was inside a small grey sport utility vehicle parked in the plaza facing the school, pleasuring and exposing himself,” OPP said in a news release Tuesday.

Police said the witness photographed the man and the vehicle involved before contacting them.

The suspect departed the area before officers arrived but was later located and apprehended at his residence on Chalmers Crescent.

As a result of the incident and subsequent investigation, a 77-year-old local man has been charged with committing an indecent act in a public place.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 13 to answer to the charge.
