A member of Ontario Provincial Police’s forensic identification services unit in North Bay, Ont., discovered a mother cat and her six newborn kittens seeking shelter inside a component underneath an OPP vehicle last week. Police said the kittens were approximately five days old at the time the were found on July 28. Rescue took 2 days The operation to safely remove the animals stretched over two days and required assistance from multiple organizations. Two Pet Save representatives took part, along with Liam Cullin and Janet Bredin from the local humane society and a representative from PAWS. The team successfully extracted all seven animals from the vehicle and transported them to the Ontario SPCA. Kittens and mother healthy The animals are now receiving care at an SPCA facility. “All seven animals are reported to be in good health and are expected to be available for adoption in the coming months,” OPP said in a news Aug. 6. Police thank rescue agencies Provincial police expressed their gratitude to the groups involved in the effort. “OPP would like to thank Pet Save, PAWS and the Ontario SPCA for their dedication to animal welfare and for their continued work caring for animals in need throughout our communities,” police wrote in the release.
