Mixed bag of northern weather includes spring snow

From heavy to freezing rain, to thunderstorms and even some snow, a mixed bag of weather is moving into many parts of the north.

Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for Sault Ste. Marie - Superior East.

A few rounds of heavy rain and thunderstorms are forecasted for the area on Thursday.

Another 15 to 25 millimetres of rain is possible, which would lead to total rainfall amounts near 50 millimetres in some spots.

Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.

Environment Canada has also issued a freezing rain warning for Chapleau - Gogama, Kirkland Lake - New Liskeard - Temagami, Timmins - Cochrane and Wawa - White River - Pukaskwa.

Freezing rain is expected to last for a few hours, before changing to snow on Thursday evening.

The snow is already falling in the Cochrane District.
