Man charged with impaired after vehicle ended up in ditch on Hwy. 17

A 26-year-old man from Sudbury faces an impaired driving charge following a single-vehicle crash on Highway 17 last week.

Ontario Provincial Police say officers responded to the scene in West Nipissing, where a single vehicle had gone into a ditch along the highway, at about 10 p.m. on April 3.

Police said no injuries were reported.

“The driver was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle, then transported to the OPP detachment for further testing,” police said in a news release.

As a result of the investigation, the motorist was charged with impaired driving.

In addition to the charge, the man was issued an immediate 90-day driver’s licence suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court in North Bay on May 7.
