A 41-year-old local man is facing multiple charges after provincial police stopped a vehicle at a RIDE checkpoint in McDougall Township. Ontario Provincial Police’s West Parry Sound detachment was conducting the reduce impaired driving everywhere (RIDE) check on Highway 124 at about 10:30 p.m. on March 6. “Officers stopped a vehicle and spoke with the driver,” police said in a news release Tuesday. As a result of the interaction, the motorist, a 41-year-old local man, was charged with failing to surrender a licence and failing to notify of a change of address along with two impaired driving offences – including having a blood alcohol concentration of more than 80. In addition to the charges, the accused’s driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle involved was towed and impounded for seven days. “Drive sober,” added OPP Const. Brandon Charlebois, in a related social media post. The man was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court in Parry Sound on April 16.
