Ontario Provincial Police closed a section of Highway 64 in the French River area shortly before 5 p.m. while crews investigate a suspected propane leak. OPP announced the road closure in a social media post. Provincial police said the scene had been cleared and the highway reopened shortly after 8:30 p.m. on May 26. The highway was shut down in both directions between Douglas Road and Dokis Reserve Road – a largely rural and wooded region. “The closure is for an investigation into a suspected propane leak,” the OPP said in its initial post. Motorists told to avoid area Police had asked residents and motorists to avoid the area. OPP Const. Martin Thibault, in a brief call with CTV News, said a technician was dispatched to the area. Thibault added that the closure was a precautionary measure for what he described as a “minor” incident.
