A 26-year-old from the French River area has been charged following an assault March 22 at a residence in the community. Ontario Provincial Police responded around 6:30 a.m., police said in a news release March 24. “An individual had physically assaulted and threatened to harm their partner, who had received minor injuries and was transported to the area hospital,” police said. “A search of the residence located firearms belonging to the accused.” Charges include two counts of assault, two counts of assault causing bodily harm (choke, suffocate or strangle) and unauthorized possession of a firearm. The accused was held for bail court, the OPP said, then remanded back into custody. They are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in the near future in Sudbury.
