Freezing rain warnings issued across northeastern Ontario

Sudbury — Environment Canada has issued several weather alerts for freezing rain or heavy rain in many communities across northeastern Ontario.

FREEZING RAIN

Officials say rain is expected to development Monday afternoon before turning to freezing rain in the following areas Monday evening:

In the Greater Sudbury area, freezing rain is expected to develop Tuesday morning as temperatures fall below zero.

Periods of freezing drizzle or snow could develop overnight.

Surfaces may become icy and slippery, so take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas. Drivers should watch for taillights ahead and maintain a safe following distance.

HEAVY RAINFALL

Rainfall amounts of 15 to 25 mm are expected in the following communities by Tuesday morning before changing to a brief period of snow:
