Drugs, stun gun seized in Thunder Bay trafficking case

A drug trafficking investigation that began in mid-January has resulted in charges against two Thunder Bay residents and the seizure of suspected fentanyl, crack cocaine, methamphetamine and a stun gun.

The Thunder Bay Police Service launched the investigation on Jan. 12 following reports of suspected drug trafficking in the community.

The probe culminated on March 12 when officers executed a search warrant at a home in the Algoma Street area.

Search yields multiple items

“During the search suspected fentanyl, crack cocaine, methamphetamine, cash, a stun gun and items associated with drug trafficking were seized,” police said in a news release.

Two in custody

A 48-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman, both from Thunder Bay, are facing charges as a result of the investigation.

Each accused has been charged with three counts of drug trafficking, unauthorized possession of weapons and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime.

The man faces two additional charges of failing to comply with a release order.

Both of the accused were remanded into custody following their first court appearance.
