Northern Ontario woman learns she won $465K in hospital lottery

There’s still time to get your ticket for this month’s 50/50 draw in support of the work done by Health Sciences North Foundation.

Last month’s winner took home $465,830, with the prize for August sitting at $380,000 and counting with six more days before the prize draw.

CTV News Northern Ontario’s Caitlynn Lepp will be on location Tuesday to take part in HSN Foundation’s events and the sale of 50/50 draw tickets.

Proceeds from each draw fund important work at the hospital, including future capital renovation projects, pediatric services and the purchase of state-of-the-art medical equipment.

Since its inception in 2020, the lottery has grossed more than $62 million and awarded more than $31 million to winners across northeastern Ontario and beyond.

Proceeds from the draw have helped fund cancer care treatments, a fleet of defibrillators for the emergency department and other critical areas, a portable CT scanner and research of Health Sciences North Research Institute’s tumour biologists and clinical trials researchers.
