Ontario Provincial Police say an 82-year-old resident of East Ferris Township died following a motorcycle crash on Highway 94 in Callander. OPP said officers, along with the Callander Fire Department and members of the District of Nipissing Emergency Medical Services, responded to a report of a collision near Terrance Road involving a car and a motorcycle shortly after 3 p.m. on Thursday. “The motorcyclist was taken to hospital where he was later pronounced deceased, despite lifesaving efforts,” an OPP spokesperson said in an email to CTV News shortly before 9 p.m. In a news release Friday morning, OPP confirmed the age and residency of the deceased. Highway closed for about 4 hours The highway was closed between Lansdowne Street and Highway 654 following the crash. In a social media post shortly before 4 p.m., OPP announced the road closure and urged motorists to avoid the area and use alternate routes. At the time, police said injuries were being assessed. Highway 94 was closed for about four hours as the on-site investigation was conducted before reopening shortly before 8 p.m., OPP said on social media. Investigation ongoing “The investigation is ongoing,” OPP said. Police have not released any details on the cause of the crash or whether any charges are being considered.
