A 58-year-old man has been arrested in relation to alleged sexual acts committed in the Greater Montreal area. “To date, at least 30 people have been identified as potential victims,” stated Longueuil police (SPAL) on Thursday. Stéphane Croteau is facing 17 charges related to sexual offences, the majority of which involve minors, including the production of child pornography, possession of child abuse and exploitation materials, obtaining sexual services for remuneration, sexual touching, sexual assault and breaking and entering. The alleged crimes occurred between 2020 and Dec. 6, 2025. “Some victims were approached by the suspect on the South Shore of Montreal, and many others were approached by him on dating sites such as sugardaddy.com and secretbenefits.com, using the username ‘Papadamour,’” Longueuil police notes. “We have reason to believe that some of them were filmed without their knowledge.” The force adds that it believes Croteau may have also approached a young girl at a shop in Longueuil, as well as near a school. He remains in custody. Any alleged victims or people with information are asked to confidentially contact the SPAL investigation division at 450 463-7211.
