A 76-year-old woman is in critical condition after a fire broke out at a seniors’ residence in Montreal’s Anjou borough. Police say they received 911 calls around 6 p.m. about a fire on Rondeau Avenue near De La Vérendrye Avenue. Firefighters found the woman unconscious on the ground of her fourth-floor apartment. First responders performed CPR on the woman and she was transported to hospital in critical condition. According to Montreal police, the fire started in an apartment on the building’s fourth floor. The arson unit is investigating and police say all signs point to the fire being accidental. The investigation is ongoing.
