Woman, 35, killed in hit and run in Saint-Lazare

A 35-year-old woman has died after being struck by a vehicle in a fatal hit and run Saturday night in Saint-Lazare, in the Montérégie region.

The incident occurred around 8:15 p.m. on Bédard Avenue, near Saint-Louis Road.

“According to preliminary information, a vehicle struck a 35-year-old pedestrian, and the driver continued on without offering assistance,” said Quebec provincial police (SQ) spokesperson Marythé Bolduc.

The woman was in critical condition when she was transported to hospital.

“Unfortunately, she was later pronounced dead,” Bolduc said.

“The SQ’s major crimes unit is handling the case to determine the cause and circumstances surrounding the incident. Collision reconstruction experts were also called to the scene Saturday night to analyze the area,” Bolduc added.

As of 9 a.m. Sunday, no arrests had been made, but the investigation is ongoing.
