Montreal police (SPVM) are searching for a suspect in connection with an alleged attempted murder that occurred in May in the Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles borough. The force is asking the public to help identify the suspect, described as a Black man between 1.85 and 1.95 metres (6’ and 6’4″) tall with black hair worn in shoulder-length dreadlocks. At the time of the incident, the suspect was wearing a black hoodie, black jogging pants and white shoes. According to police, at 9:15 p.m. on May 18, a 911 call was received reporting a person injured with a sharp object near the intersection of Élie-Beauregard Avenue and Perras Boulevard. When officers arrived, they found a 49-year-old man who was conscious but had sustained injuries to his upper and lower body. The victim was taken to hospital. The circumstances surrounding the attack remain under investigation. Anyone with information related to the investigation is asked to contact 911 or their local neighbourhood police station. Rewards of up to $5,000 may be offered for information leading to the arrest of a suspect. Conditions apply.
