SAAQclic: Former CEO Nathalie Tremblay to speak at Gallant Commission

Former Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ) CEO Nathalie Tremblay is expected to speak on Monday at the Gallant Commission.

Tremblay held the highest position at the SAAQ from 2010 to 2022, and her testimony is expected to be of paramount importance to the Commission.

She left the organization shortly before the failed rollout of SAAQclic, which caused massive queues at branches during the winter of 2023.

Last February, Quebec’s auditor general stated in a report that the SAAQ’s digital shift is expected to cost at least $1.1 billion by 2027, $500 million more than anticipated.

Tremblay is the one who notably approved the hiring of Karl Malenfant, the former vice president of information technology, whose name has repeatedly come up at the Commission.

She was also the one who previously convinced the government to relax the rules governing the SAAQ.

Malenfant’s testimony is expected to follow Tremblay’s.

After several weeks in Montreal, the commission relocated to Quebec City to hear these two testimonies.
