Québec solidaire (QS) is proposing to appoint a “super minister” responsible for combating homelessness if it wins power. The left-wing party’s spokesperson, Ruba Ghazal, made the promise Tuesday during a news conference at the PAS de la rue organization’s facilities in Montreal. The position would bring more consistency to government action on the issue, Ghazal said. There are 12,000 people experiencing homelessness in Quebec, according to government data. That represents a 20 per cent increase since 2022.
