Quebec is providing $36 million to support the activities of the Quebec Artificial Intelligence Institute, Mila. The Minister of Economy, Innovation and Energy, Jean Boulet, made the announcement on Friday at the research institute’s premises in Montreal. The financial support will be used to help Mila consolidate a world-class university network in artificial intelligence (AI), in addition to continuing to train and attract talent. Quebec’s contribution will also enable Mila to continue its activities aimed at supporting Quebec companies in the development and adoption of AI-related technologies. The government’s support is part of the 2022-2027 Québec Research and Innovation Investment Strategy, which includes a $125 million envelope to continue implementing AI-related measures. Mila brings together more than 1,300 researchers, professors, students and partners from the research and innovation community.
