Authorities seized more than $100,000 in contraband from a Quebec medium security prison just before Christmas, the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) said on Tuesday. On Dec. 23, staff found the items in packages at the Drummond Institution, which is about 115 kilometres northeast of Montreal and can hold 369 inmates. Some of the items included cannabis concentrate, tobacco, vaping devices, cell phones, and chargers. The total estimated value of the contraband was $112,450. The CSC says it uses various tools to control the flow of drugs entering prisons, including ionization detectors and drug-sniffing dogs.
