Quebec man wins $1,000 a week for life thanks to his son

Thanks to his son, a man in his 60s from the Quebec City area won the ‘Winner for Life’ jackpot on the Loto-Quebec scratch ticket.

Christian Hébert is set to receive $1,000 per week for life. The resident of Sainte-Catherine-de-la-Jacques-Cartier asked his son to go to the convenience store to pick up a few things, including a lottery ticket.

His son couldn’t find the ticket his father wanted, so instead, he bought him a “Winner for Life” scratch ticket.

The ticket was left in a drawer for a while before Hébert decided to scratch it. That’s when he realized he’d won.

“I can’t believe this happened to me!” he said.

Hébert said he paced around the house and then called his son at work to tell him the good news.

With his unexpected win, Hébert said he wants to take a moment to reflect before making any plans.

The convenience store where Hébert’s son purchased the ticket will also receive a commission of $10,000, equivalent to 1 per cent of the winnings.
