MNA Marwah Rizqy has been suspended from the Liberal caucus and stripped of her parliamentary leadership duties due to a “breach of trust.” Liberal leader Pablo Rodriguez made the announcement Tuesday morning in a press release following the dismissal of Rizqy’s former chief of staff, who is close to Rodriguez. The leader’s press release states that the Saint-Laurent MNA fired Geneviève Hinse “without consulting the leader and without providing an explanation.” “This difficult but necessary measure is intended to ensure the cohesion and proper functioning of the Liberal caucus in the National Assembly,” he said. Pontiac MNA André Fortin will take over as parliamentary leader, replacing Rizqy. Lafontaine MNA and former interim leader Marc Tanguay will become whip of the parliamentary wing. Quebec Liberal Party President Rafaël Primeau-Ferraro told reporters in Montreal that he would stick to what was written in the press release. “This is not a simple situation,” he said. “It’s a very heated, very new situation, so we’ll be able to say more about it later.” In an internal memo, Marwah Rizqy announced that Hinse was “no longer employed” and would be replaced immediately by the director of operations, Isabelle Lord. Geneviève Hinse is close to Liberal leader Pablo Rodriguez, who does not sit in the National Assembly because he is not an elected member. Rizqy, who met with Rodriguez in the morning, declined to comment after the meeting, simply telling reporters that she was “doing fine.” This report by The Canadian Press was first published in French on Nov. 18, 2025.
