Police target South Shore homes in alleged car theft ring

A police operation was carried out on the South Shore of Montreal on Tuesday morning, targeting a car theft ring operating in Quebec and Ontario.

Police conducted searches of three residences in St-Hubert and Brossard, according to a news release issued by Quebec’s provincial police agency, the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).

Police arrested a 23-year-old man from St-Hubert in connection with an outstanding warrant for breach of conditions.

The SQ claims the stolen vehicles are intended for export overseas through exporters in the Greater Montreal area.

During the operation, authorities seized tools that may be used to steal vehicles, including cellphones, computer equipment, balaclavas, documents, Canadian currency and one vehicle as offence-related property.

The raid stems from an investigation launched in October 2025 in collaboration with Longueuil police, the Ontario Provincial Police’s auto theft squad, known as PATT.

The SQ says it will provide an update on the raids.
