A home being renovated in Montreal’s Saint-Laurent borough was the target of an alleged arson attack early Monday morning. Montreal police (SPVM) received a 911 call at 2:50 a.m. about the incident on O’Brien Avenue near Cléroux Street. “When the police arrived on the scene, they found the fire, which had started on the garage door,” said Caroline Chèvrefils, a Montreal police spokesperson, adding the home was uninhabited. She says the fire department quickly brought the blaze under control, and found incendiary devices on site. “According to the first information, a suspect would have been seen setting a fire to the garage door and fleeing on foot before the arrival of the police,” said Chèvrefils. She adds a window was broken and graffiti was sprayed across the front of the house. “The damage to the building is minimal,” Chèvrefils notes. An investigation is underway, and the file has been transferred to the Montreal police arson squad.
