Maurice Richard mural created near his childhood home in Ahuntsic

The artist known as Zek painted this mural of Maurice "Rocket" Richard

The Rocket lives on in Ahuntsic.

A mural of Maurice Richard was finished this week on the side of La Molisana restaurant at 1014 Fleury St.

The image shows the legendary Canadien on the ice, next to children playing street hockey in Montreal.

Richard was born in the neighbourhood which was known at the time as Bordeaux, and played street hockey for years before joining an organized league at age 14.

The mural was painted by Zek, a member of the A'Shop collective.
