A man in his 20s who was being held at the Quebec City detention center was critically injured in a violent altercation Saturday evening. Provincial police were called to the scene around 9:45 p.m. The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) says the incident is considered “suspicious.” According to Noovo Info sources, the man was part of the North Savage Gang (NSG), founded by former Blood Family Mafia (BFM) member All Boivin. Boivin is at the top of the list of Canada’s most wanted fugitives. The inmate was found with extreme marks of violence and was already brain dead before being transported to hospital, according to an internal source. He was reportedly involved in an altercation where BFM members were held, and sources say it could be case of settling scores between gang members. Since it occurred in a prison setting, the SQ’s crimes against persons section is investigating. If authorities confirm the death, it will be the first murder in decades at the detention centre. A source told Noovo Info that prison officers had worried of escalating tensions and violence at the facility after Blood Family Mafia leader Dave “Pic” Turmel was arrested and splits within the gang.
