Mobilité Montréal says 44 major construction projects are either underway or set to begin this fall in the Greater Montreal area. A city transportation document shows 19 of these projects will directly affect Montreal motorists. Work on the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine Tunnel and Souligny Interchange will continue, with long-term closures in effect. Completion of the tunnel is still planned for the end of 2027. Maintenance and reconstruction of the Île-aux-Tourtes Bridge will continue until 2030. Highway 15 North, between Blainville and Mirabel, remains under construction until December. On Highway 20, between Sainte-Julie and Beloeil, a reserved lane is being developed, with work expected to continue until the end of November. On the Metropolitan Highway, between Highway 15 (Laurentides) and Highway 520 (Côte-de-Liesse), asphalting work will require a complete weekend closure during the weekend of Sept. 5 to 8. Drainage work between Highway 640 and the Charles-De Gaulle Bridge will lead to partial or full night-time closures until the end of 2025. Construction on Ste-Catherine Street Downtown Montreal will also be challenging for motorists, with multiple projects including work on three sections of Sainte-Catherine Street. On the Honoré-Mercier Bridge, two construction sites will result in four weekend closures between September and November. Motorists should also expect disruptions from major events, including the Grand Prix Cycliste de Montréal on Sept. 14, the Beneva Montréal Marathon on Sept. 21, and the Santa Claus Parade on Nov. 22. The complete list of construction projects, including closures, is available on the Mobilité Montréal website.
