Dorval driving school loses provincial licence after SAAQ review

A Dorval driving school has lost its provincial recognition and will no longer be able to offer driver training courses.

Quebec’s automobile insurance board (SAAQ) announced Monday that it has revoked Steps Driving School’s certification. The certificate was revoked as of Feb. 25.

The decision follows a SAAQ review of the school’s eligibility to offer the Road Safety Education Program (PSEP), which found the business did not meet the requirements to continue operating as a recognized driving school.

The school’s owners are now banned from owning or operating any other SAAQ-recognized driving school for the next five years.

Steps Driving School, located at 2101 Trans-Canada Highway, had trained students to earn their Class 5 driver’s licence.

The SAAQ says it will reach out to affected students and help them continue their training at another recognized school.
