A 79-year-old cyclist is in critical condition after being struck by an SUV in the Côte-des-Neiges neighbourhood. Montreal police (SPVM) said it received 911 calls around 11:25 a.m. Emergency services were sent to Edouard Montpetit Boulevard at Trans Island Avenue after a vehicle collided with a man on a bicycle. The man had sustained serious injuries to his upper body. “The paramedics took charge of the victim and transferred him to a hospital centre in a critical state,” said SPVM spokesperson Julien Lévesque. The 44-year-old woman driver refused transport to the hospital. It is the second day in a row that police have responded to a cyclist getting hit by a vehicle. On Thursday morning, a dashcam captured dramatic footage of a 28-year-old woman being run over by a semi-truck in the Old Port. She sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Police are waiting to confirm the health status of the man who was hit on Friday, and an investigation is ongoing.
