Arson at Galeries Lachine restaurant

The arson squad is at a restaurant in Lachine on Wednesday morning after someone tried to burn it down.

Around 3:30 a.m. a passerby called 911 to report the fire at Queberac Restaurant in the Galeries Lachine strip mall on Remembrance Rd. near 32nd. Ave.

The fire had apparently been started 15 minutes earlier.

Firefighters arrived to discover the building's sprinkler system had already extinguished the flames, but they discovered a jerry can full of gasoline inside the restaurant indicating the fire had been deliberately set.

The arson squad was called to the scene and will go through whatever evidence they can find to determine who wanted to burn down the restaurant.
