Longueuil homes without electricity after truck hits power line

At its peak, there were 8,975 addresses without power in Longueuil on Montreal’s South Shore on Friday morning after a truck hit a power line.

According to Longueuil police (SPAL), the incident happened at 6 a.m. in the parking lot of a business at 455 Jean-Paul-Vincent Boulevard.

The incident caused an outage in the area.

There were no reported injuries.

Jean-Paul-Vincent Boulevard is currently closed between de la Métropole Street and Kirouac Street for an indefinite period of time.

People are being asked to avoid the area.

The situation in Longueuil has mostly recovered, with 272 addresses in the dark.

The total number of outages in Longueuil has dipped to 1,494.

9:20 a.m.

There are 3,713 addresses without power.

8:35 a.m.

The number of outages is down to 4,284.

7:42 a.m.

There are 8,975. addresses without electricity.
