Advance voting opens across Montreal this Sunday as the city prepares for the upcoming municipal election on Nov. 2 More than 3,200 election workers will be ready to welcome voters at over 200 polling stations across the city. Advance polls will be open from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., as required by Quebec law. The initiative begins Friday and will run on select days through Oct. 29 at 16 post-secondary institutions across Montreal. Montreal is the first municipality in Quebec to implement the program, allowing students registered on the Montreal electoral list to vote at their school, regardless of which borough they live in. Dozens of Elections Montreal teams will spread out across the city to ensure these voters can participate. “I’m pleased to see that despite the challenges caused by the postal service interruption, many voters registered to vote or to receive home voting services,” said Emmanuel Tani-Moore, Montreal’s chief electoral officer. The delivery, which is being carried out by private companies, is expected to be completed by the end of the day on Friday, Voters can also find their polling location and schedule by visiting elections.montreal.ca, calling 514-872-VOTE (8683), or going to the nearest Elections Montreal service point.
