A man in his 40s is in critical condition after being stabbed Saturday morning in Montreal, in the Ville-Marie borough. The stabbing reportedly occurred around 4 a.m., following a “conflict that escalated between several people” in an alleyway not far from the intersection of Sainte-Catherine and Chomedey streets, said Caroline Chèvrefils, spokesperson for the Montreal Police Service (SPVM). Police found the victim, a 45-year-old man, a few blocks away, near the intersection of Sainte-Catherine and Saint-Marc. “He was conscious and had been wounded in the upper body by a sharp object,” said Chèvrefils. The SPVM has launched an investigation, but no arrests have been made so far. Officers have interviewed witnesses and will also review surveillance camera footage from the surrounding area.
