Family members identify woman found lying on side of road near St. Thomas, Ont.

Family members on social media have identified the victim of a sudden death investigation as Amanda Ann Gordon.

Ontario Provincial Police officers are investigating the sudden death in Central Elgin, just south of St. Thomas.

Around 12:42 a.m. Sunday morning, first responders were called to a Sunset Drive just south of Southdale line for reports of a person lying on the side of the roadway.

Elgin St. Thomas Emergency Medical Services attended the scene with OPP and conducted life saving measures, then transported the female to St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital where she was later pronounced deceased.

Police tape blocked Sunset Drive in the section where the woman was found, and the road was closed from Southdale Line to John Wise Line.

Police say the investigation is in its early stages, and residents of the area should expect to continue to see an increased police presence.
