Three tornadoes confirmed near Goderich

After funnel clouds were spotted near Goderich and Clinton Saturday evening, the Northern Tornadoes Project confirmed three tornadoes in Goderich.

The first tornado occurred over Lake Huron at 6:30 p.m. as part of a long-lived supercell thunderstorm, and is rated a Default-EF0 because there was no damage.

As the supercell approached shore, the tornado weakened, but re-intensified and produced an EF0 tornado at Potter’s Hill at 6:55 p.m. The tornado produced winds at 125km/h, damaging a barn, coverall building and trees.

Later on, the same supercell resulted in a new tornado near Harlock, with a rating of EF0. Tree damage was reported, with estimated wind speed of 90km/h.

None of the tornadoes caused injuries.

Multiple pictures and videos of a funnel cloud were shared with CTV News.

There was a Marine Tornado Warning along the Lake Huron shoreline, centred around Goderich around 6:45 p.m.

Around 7 p.m., funnel clouds were spotted inland between Goderich and Clinton.
