‘This weather is gorgeous’: Sunny Thursday before rainfall returns over the weekend

There will be plenty of sunshine Thursday before the rain returns to the Forest City. Julie Atchison explains when.

Make sure to enjoy the sunshine on Thursday, as rainfall and slightly cooler temperatures will move into the London region to kick off the weekend.

“Lots of sunshine to start your day today,” said CTV News London Meteorologist Julie Atchison. “Beautiful conditions.”

Thursday will boast sunny skies and while the morning will start off on the cool side, the afternoon high will climb to 20 C, marking an above seasonal daytime temperature. Make sure to apply sunscreen if you plan to soak up the sun, as the UV will peak at seven.

“The spring flowers are popping, just what they need - [a] couple of days of warm temperatures,” Atchison said.

Looking ahead to Thursday night, skies will be clear with a low of 5 C.

To end the workweek, there will be a mix of sun and cloud and a 30 per cent chance of showers on Friday, with a high of 16 C.

“Next opportunity for rain arriving Friday afternoon, evening, [and a] slight chance for showers and then Friday night those probabilities start to ramp up as our next low-pressure area comes in,” Atchison explained.

Atchison says the rain ramps up into a steady rainfall Friday night into Saturday, with a low of 5 C and a 60 per cent chance of rain overnight Friday.

On Saturday the daytime high will drop to 11 C, with a 40 per cent chance of showers.

The sunshine will reappear on Sunday with a high of 16 C.
