Temperatures dropping further Friday while flurries persist

Temperatures are falling almost as quickly as the snow. CTV London Meteorologist Julie Atchison as your weather forecast.

The deep freeze continues, with even more snow in the forecast Friday.

“More snow on the way today,” warned CTV London Meteorologist Julie Atchison. “Temperatures plummeting with the passage of a cold front heading into the afternoon.”

Atchison advises motorists to set aside plenty of extra time in the morning to get to work, and suggests if you don’t need to drive – just stay home.

“Snowfall amounts will continue to pile up another 10 to 15 centimeters expected with a chance of flurries in London, but we will see a mix of sun and cloud through the day today, expecting some evening flurries,” she added.

Atchison says the frigid temperatures are thanks to an area of cold arctic air coming off the Great Lakes, leading to very cold wind chills.

“Keep your shovels handy and pay attention to the latest watches and warnings,” concluded Atchison.

Friday: A mix of sun and cloud with 40 per cent chance of flurries in the morning. Flurries beginning near noon. Local blowing snow in the afternoon. Local amount 2 cm. Wind west 30 km/h gusting to 50. Temperature falling to minus 18 in the afternoon. Wind chill near minus 27.

Friday night: Partly cloudy with 60 per cent chance of flurries. Wind west 20 km/h gusting to 40 becoming light near midnight. Low minus 21. Wind chill near minus 30. Risk of frostbite.

Saturday: Sunny. High minus 13.

Sunday: Snow. High minus 11.
