‘It’s like a teeter totter’: Temperatures swing up and down as rainfall set to move in on Thursday

Rainfall is in the forecast and temperatures are set to swing into the double digits. CTV's Julie Atchison explains when.

Following a cold Tuesday and start to Wednesday temperatures will finally be on the upswing heading into the weekend, with rainfall also joining the mix.

Atchison says there will be mainly sunny skies in the Forest City on Wednesday, with the high reaching 10 C. She adds there is an advancing cold front which will lead to rainfall and possible thunderstorms moving into the area on Thursday.

“This is not an all-day rain. It looks like the main rain will be just out ahead of this boundary and we’ll see some showers push through in the afternoon and then getting back into a mix of sun and cloud as we head into the evening,” Atchison said.

Thursday’s high will soar to 17 C with a 60 per cent chance of thunderstorms and strong winds gusts of up to 50 km/h.

Temperatures swing back down on Thursday night, with a low of 4 C and a 40 per cent chance of showers.

The possibility of rain continues Friday, with a high of 7 C and a 60 per cent chance of rain.

Temperatures swing back into the double digits for the weekend and into early next week, ranging from 11 C to 20 C, but the weather will be mixed, with sunshine expected Saturday and cloudy skies with the possibility of rainfall.

“It’s like a teeter totter,” Atchison said. “Definitely those daytime highs back and forth this time of year.”
