Southwestern Ontario to see cool temperatures, spotty showers and frost risk this week

Julie Atchison has the latest forecast for southwestern Ontario

Temperatures will be cooler than normal across southwestern Ontario this week, with intermittent showers and the risk of frost in some areas.

“Temperatures are averaging well below normal and we’ll stay on the cool side as we move through the week,” said meteorologist Julie Atchison.

A pool of cooler air in the upper atmosphere will drive unsettled conditions over the next several days.

“What that means for us is a mix of sun and cloud with the chance of showers,” she said, noting that most rainfall will be light and sporadic.

Through the remainder of the week, expect periods of sunshine alongside a continued chance of showers, though the probability remains relatively low. “These are just little light pop-up showers as we move through the day,” Atchison said.

By Thursday, some light rainfall is expected near Sarnia and Chatham, with London likely to remain on the edge of patchy showers, particularly overnight.

“We still have some cool nights in the forecast with the potential for some frosty conditions which could nip some of those beautiful spring flowers,” Atchison said.

Daytime conditions Thursday and Friday are expected to feature a mix of sun and cloud with about a 30 per cent chance of showers both days. Temperatures will remain well below seasonal norms.

Looking ahead to the weekend, Atchison is predicting more sunshine on Saturday before rain returns Sunday, accompanied by a brief warmup.
