SIU invokes mandate after man in distress injured while being pulled out of vehicle by London police

The province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is investigating after a man in distress was injured after being pulled out of a vehicle by police in the city’s east end.

According to a news release, on Wednesday at approximately 11 a.m. London police responded to the city’s east end after a man refused to stop at an intersection that was closed due to a traffic investigation.

Police located the man in his vehicle and saw that he was in distress.

Officers broke a window of the vehicle in order to safely remove the man. He was then apprehended and transported to hospital.

As a result of an interaction with police, the man sustained an injury requiring medical attention.

The SIU has therefore invoked their mandate.
