Potential deal for former St. Thomas Ford plant in the works

Nearly three years after the Ford plant closed in St. Thomas, there is talk a deal could be in the works.

Several sources tell CTV London that Ford is in talks with Blue Forest Ventures, a group which has experience transforming surplus industrial land into new vibrant projects. The head of economic development for Elgin County hope’s this is the case.

“Well according to Blue Forest, their plan call for an agri-business park,” says Alan Smith.

While the news of a potential deal is positive for the region, frustration looms as a delayed deal hampers other potential prospects.

“We do field inquiries about this very site and you know what, we have to place them on hold. That is frustrating.”
