Sarnia police have arrested a man identified as a suspect they believe to be involved in a stabbing earlier this week. Officers were dispatched to Centennial Park at 4:37 p.m. on Monday, following a report of a stabbing. Police said officers located a female victim near the end of George Street suffering from a wound to the back of her upper arm. Patrol officers and the canine unit searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect who they say fled before officers arrived. The victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Police say William Gallerno, 45, was arrested by OPP in Strathroy and was transferred into the custody of Sarnia police. He is charged with assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, and failure to comply with release order.
