A London courtroom has heard how an argument at a downtown London strip club more than three years ago turned into a shooting. On Wednesday the man responsible for the gunfire, Kwabena Anhwere, 44, pleaded guilty to three counts including discharging a firearm, possessing a loaded restricted firearm, and possessing a firearm while prohibited. In an agreed statement of facts read by Crown Attorney Andrea Mason, the court heard how Anhwere, a man with a lengthy criminal record, was inside the Solid Gold Club on Dundas Street on April 29, 2023, when he got into an argument with a dancer and was then dragged outside by security guards. Caught on surveillance video, Mason told the court, “The accused is put on the sidewalk and once he gets up, he is holding the handgun in his right hand.” She went on to say, “The accused can then be seen running towards the door and firing one round from the handgun.” He struck the door and no one was injured. Anhwere then fled the seen but was later apprehended by police. A sentencing hearing is expected to be held on Oct. 30.
