London postal workers picketed outside of Purolator on Friday. The CUPW members cheered in front of the trucks, which were delayed from entering the facility. Workers also targeted vehicles they said were being used by independent contractors doing deliveries, holding them up as they tried to leave. The workers said independent drivers are picking up the overflow that was created by the strike. “We’ve talked to a lot of the customers that come in quickly and a lot of them don’t know that 91 per cent of Purolator is owned by Canada Post,” said Mike Coppins, CUPW 566 External Grievance Officer. “How can you have so much conflict of interest at a government level like that and the government’s looking to cut jobs and they’re good paying jobs that we need in Canada right now.”
