Calgary’s business community is gathering today to discuss the economic outlook for 2027, with leaders from business, government and public policy examining the challenges and opportunities ahead. The 2027 Economic Outlook, hosted by Calgary Economic Development and powered by ATB Financial, is taking place at the BMO Centre. The event comes as Alberta faces ongoing economic and geopolitical uncertainty, with discussions expected to focus on investment, competitiveness, trade, and growth. ATB Financial Vice President and Chief Economist Mark Parsons will present the banks latest economic outlook for Alberta, providing a data-driven look at the province’s economic trajectory and what it could mean for businesses. Former Alberta Premier Jason Kenney is also scheduled to deliver keynote remarks. He is expected to discuss the political and economic landscape, including trade, competitiveness, and policy uncertainty. Alberta Premier Danielle Smith is also scheduled to speak at the event Tuesday afternoon, along with Calgary Mayor Jeromy Farkas. Organizers say the event is intended to give Calgary’s business community an opportunity to step back from the immediate economic uncertainty and consider what could shape the city’s economy in 2027.
