Following Mayor Josh Morgan’s budget squeeze on city-funded agencies, London Police Chief Thai Truong presented $1.5 million in adjustments to the 2026 budget at a police services board meeting on Thursday morning. The service provided the return through reserve drawdowns, saying in a financial report, “These measures are intended to reduce the tax levy impact while maintaining essential service delivery.” The adjusted 2026 Operating Budget comes to $195,776,415. Previously, London Police began looking for savings between $1 million and $1.5 million that wouldn’t impact police operations. The move comes after the mayor set a target of five per cent property tax increase for 2026, after it was projected at 6.4 per cent.
