London man facing charges after teen dies of drug overdose

A London man has been charged after a teenager has died of a drug overdose.

On Jan. 23 around 1 a.m., emergency services were called to a suspicious death of a 17-year-old boy in the 800 block of Commissioners Road East.

An investigation was launched and through a post-mortem exam, the cause of death was ruled to be a drug overdose.

On March 27, a 23-year-old London man identified by police as Logan Beckett was arrested in connection to the incident. Police seized 57 grams of suspected cocaine, 30 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 28 eight milligram tablets of dilaudid, and $515.

The suspect was charged with several drug-related charges. He was later identified by the London Police Service as the same person who sold the drugs to the 17-year-old victim.

On Wednesday, the suspect was arrested once again, this time in relation to the teen’s death. Seized during the second arrest was 6.6 grams of suspected cocaine, 59 eight milligram tablets of dilaudid, and $335.

A search warrant was executed at a home in south London. The following items were seized:

• 2.9 grams of suspected cocaine
• 71 eight milligram dilaudid tablets
• 153 40 milligram Vyvanse capsules
• $4,175 in cash

Beckett is now facing charges for manslaughter, causing death by criminal negligence, two counts of trafficking in schedule one substance, two counts of possession of a schedule one substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a schedule three substance for the purpose of trafficking, and failure to comply with a release order.

Police said the victim and accused did know each other.
